Prolapsed Hemorrhoids - Tips On How to Deal With Hemorrhoid Prolapse
Prolapsed hemorrhoids are internal hemorrhoids that have become so distended that they have dropped or protrude
outside of your bottom. Normally hemorrhoids that are outside of the anus are considered to be external
hemorrhoids, it is only when the protrusion is from inside that we have the condition of prolapsing
hemorrhoids.
Medical professionals grade the hemorrhoidal condition according to ones symptoms and the prognosis upon
examination.
Once your condition has reached prolapsed stage it would be considered to be at grade III or grade IV. Grade II
hemorrhoids may prolapse or lower outside of the rectum when passing stools, however because they retract on their
own with no intervention it is unlikely that you would even know that they were present.
At grade III your internal hemorrhoids would have prolapsed but do retract or remain inside your anus if you
gently push them back upward in to your bottom. At grade IV the protruding hemorhhoids will not return to their
normal position without the intervention of significant lifestyle change, dietry adjustment, treatment or surgical
intervention. Surgery should be a consideration if all other options available have not improved your
condition.

Prolapsed hemorrhoids may be noticed when bathing or wiping after a stool movement, however they can become
painful, itchy and irritated. If the prolapsed hemroids have become thrombosed you will experience particular
disomfort as the blood supply to that area has become inhibited. Strangulated hemorrhoids are another complication
associated with prolapsed hemorrhoids. The name says it all; the hemroids become entirely strangulated of blood
supply due to becoming trapped by the internal sphincter muscle going into spasm. Ouch.

Remove Associated Pressure to the Hemorrhoidal Region and Try to Restore Natural
Positioning.
Straining due to constipation will worsen your condition and will not support the healing
process. It is important to eat plenty of fiber rich foods, drink plenty of water and refrain from
foods that will cause the eliminination process to become difficult and your digestive system to be
sluggish.

Squats the Problem?
Avoid pushing when passing stools; if you are constipated you can help ‘encourage’ your waste out by leaning
forward, raising your feet into a tip toe position and raising your knees upward. By doing this you will be in the
‘squat’ position, our bodies have been designed to poo whilst squating! Who designed toilets anyway? Another way to
pass waste without the need to push is to take deep breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth, nice
long deep inhalation will relax the muscles and gravity may be able to do the rest.
As it has been downward pushing and strain that has caused the prolapse the opposite needs to be adopted in
order to reverse this process. In order to achieve this you will need to gently push the prolapsed hemorrhoid
upward back in to your bottom so it resumes a more normal positioning. You will need to wear clean plastic gloves
for this process and have some vaseline on standby. This will need to be repeated regularly throughout the day and
certainly after each bowel movement.

Hemorrhoid and Bottom Excercise
This process should be performed when there are no potential distractions. It is important that
you are entirely relaxed in order to achieve optimum results and not inhibit your healing or worsen
your condition further. Please ensure that you only perform the advanced stage of this excercise as
seen opposite if you are otherwise fit and healthy and can maintain reasonable balance. Ensure that
if you are using an excercise ball that you have removed potential hazards out of your way.

Using a little Vaseline as lubrication insert your forefinger into your bottom gently pushing
the prolapsed hemorhoid inside. Use the thumb of the same hand to hold the outside of your body as
support, this will ensure application of even and precise pressure.
Perform a sucking upward action within your anus, imagine trying to hold a marble inside your
bottom without it falling out! It is recommended that you start with 30 seconds. As you frequent
this step you are encouraged to slowly increase the time. As you notice your condition improve you
may decrease your sessions and increase the duration. For example you may start with 30 seconds 8
times daily moving to 45 seconds 6 times daily, 60 seconds 4 times daily and so on.

Once you have completed step 1 carefully put your firm fitting underwear and shorts
on. It is important that your hemorhoids remain inside your bottom. Do not proceed to step 3 unless
your hemroids are capable of remaining inside for the process. If you are not at the stage of
progressing to step 3 do not be disheartened, persist with step 1 until you are ready. |

Option 1: Excercise Ball
If you are confident with an excercise ball you will need to mount the ball carefully. Lean
forward so your bottom and legs are raised behind you. Gently clench your buttocks sucking upward
and inward again, similarly to step 1. Do this for as long as you feel comfortable. Please do not
attempt the use of an excercise ball unless you are a seasoned user.
Option2: Tip Toe Raises
Gently suck your hemorrhoids upward and clench your buttocks whilst raising on to your tippy
toes. Use the wall or a chair for balance if required. Hold that position for approximately five
seconds before lowering. Repeat this step for as long as you feel comfortable.

Stretching
Stretching your muscles is vital in order to maintain optimum health and can help improve your hemorrhoidal
problems. Stretching improves the oxygen levels reaching your muscles and improves strength and elasticity.
Suggested Stretches
Each morning raise your arms upward toward the sky and lift so you can
feel your abdominal muscles being lengthened. As you inhale tense your buttocks and suck your anal muscles
upward and your stomach inward. As you exhale keeping your arms upward and straight, drop your shoulders
and release your stomach and anal muscles. Repeat.
- Breathe in so your abdominal muscles are tightened and suck your anal muscles upward; bend forward slowly
reaching your fingertips toward the earth. Feel your lower back lengthen. Exhale and bounce gently in order to
work the lower back muscles. As you return to standing position inhale and reach for the sky, stretching out
the lower back and shoulders. Release your abdominal and anal muscles.
To complete your stretching adopt the position in the image above. It is important that you pull your anal musles
upward before performing any of these stretches. If necessary you may need to manually push prolapsed hemorrhoids
inside your bottom in order to begin the stretches without causing further prolapse. The most important factor is
that your hemorrhoids are not being further strained; the aim of the stretches is to improve muscle strength and
blood flow to the hemorrhoidal region.

Don’t Sit Around for Too Long
Prolapsed hemorrhoids are caused as the muscles surrounding the hemorrhoidal cushions are weak,
unable to suppport them. Where the blood supply is inhibited this will worsen the problem, causing
further progression of your hemroid prolapse. Everything in moderation is the answer, don’t sit too
long, stand too long or even lie down for too long! Gently moving around and getting your blood
flow moving will certainly help.

Raise Legs to Relieve Prolapsed Hemorrhoids
Raising your legs whilst you sleep or in moderation throughout the day may help your
condition. This will alleviate the gravitational downward pulling to your muscles,
surrounding tissue and veins. If you are able to raise your legs above heart level this is
advised.

Weight Management
Healthy eating is one of the most important factors in the treatment and further prevention of
prolapsed internal hemorrhoids. If you are overweight it is important to reduce that in order to
improve your condition and maintain good health. Carrying extra weight particularly around the
stomach, buttocks and thighs is putting strain on your hemorrhoidal region.
